While the Good Book in Romans 10:9-10 urges people to "come as you are" and receive salvation, the verses do not seem to ring true in a church in a part of Kisii.

A section of youths who attended a prayer session at a church in Mugirango South, Kisiii county, were turned away after being condemned by clerics for what they described as indecent dressing.

The women who had gone to St Peter and Paul Parish Etago on Thursday were told to leave the premises, with a cleric - Benjamin Ndemo - saying that their mode of dress went against the customs of the church.

The prayer session was organized for the youth and intended to among other things, share with them Biblical teachings on the right way to live.

“It is not right to dress indecently. There is a certain way that both men and women are supposed to conduct themselves, and that includes the manner in which they dress,” he said.
