Gospel deejay Samuel Muraya, widely known as DJ Mo, was on Wednesday afternoon arraigned before a Nairobi court to answer traffic-related charges arising from an early morning encounter with police along Thika Road.

Muraya was presented before the court after he was allegedly stopped by police at around 8:55am on November 4, 2026, near Roasters, while driving his Jaguar, registration KCH 065T.

Prosecutors allege that the entertainer was behind the wheel without an active third-party insurance cover for the vehicle, an offence under the Insurance (Motor Vehicle Third Party Risks) Act.

He faces a second count of allegedly failing to have a valid insurance certificate displayed on the Jaguar as required by law.

The third charge relates to alleged defiance of a lawful order. The court heard that Corporal Chelimo, who was in uniform, directed Muraya to drive the vehicle to a police station, but he is said to have declined and instead proceeded towards Thika.

The offence is charged under the Traffic Act.
