Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is in Entebbe, Uganda, to represent Kenya at the 2nd Extra-Ordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).

In an update on X on Friday, Kindiki said he was attending the summit on behalf of President William Ruto.

"Arrived in Entebbe, Uganda, to represent Kenya during the 2nd Extra-Ordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) on behalf of President William Ruto," the Deputy President said.

The summit brings together regional leaders and representatives to discuss the African Union's support and stabilisation efforts in Somalia, including the security situation and the future of the AUSSOM mission.

Kenya is one of the troop-contributing countries to the mission.

The meeting is expected to deliberate on matters relating to the mission's operations, financing and continued support for Somalia's security transition.
