Del Monte Kenya Limited on Thursday, April 2, 2026, entered into a partnership with the Administration Police Service (APS) to strengthen security operations across its organisation.

The plan brings APS officers into a more structured and coordinated role alongside Del Monte’s existing security teams, including long-standing partners G4S and Garda World, to improve response times, manage risks more effectively and ensure that security is handled professionally and responsibly while being accountable to the communities around it.

The Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, who was in attendance, lauded the collaboration meant to restructure the security operations.

"We want to see more of this in Kenya, where big companies and state security don't just coexist but work together under clear rules that hold everyone accountable. Del Monte has shown they are serious about getting this right. By putting the community at the heart of this agreement, we’re making sure this partnership benefits the people living and working here,” noted IG Kanja.

Adding that: "This initiative is not only timely but also strategic. It reflects our continued commitment as the National Police Service to adapt to emerging security needs and to safeguard key national assets that are vital to Kenya’s economic growth and stability."

"Del Monte Kenya Limited stands as one of the country’s most important agro-industrial investments. Beyond being a global leader in pineapple production and export, the company is a major employer, supporting thousands of livelihoods directly and indirectly. Its contribution to Kenya’s foreign exchange earnings, food security, and industrial development cannot be overstated," remarked IG Kanja.

Speaking during the event, Del Monte Kenya Limited Managing Director Wayne Cook noted that the partnership marked a significant moment in the company's ongoing effort to raise security standards.

"We’re committed to building trust in our communities and laying a stronger foundation. Partnering with the APS and G4S is about a more organised, more responsible way of working. This isn't the finish line, but it’s a vital step forward for our company and the community,” said Cook.

G4S Managing Director Lawrence Okelo said the collaboration will ensure the protection of people and assets.

“As G4S we are happy to be launching this partnership alongside Del Monte and the Administration Police, as the new way of providing security to the plantation, stakeholders and the community around the plantation,” said Okelo.

This agreement exemplifies Del Monte Kenya’s commitment to security that has standardised training, strengthened operational controls, and a commitment to human rights and the responsible use of force-principles that align with the company’s global values and internationally recognised frameworks, including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
