Daystar University has been closed indefinitely after a string of student unrest.

In a notice signed by the school’s acting Vice Chancellor Prof James Kombo, all students were ordered to vacate both the Nairobi and Athi River campuses by midday.

“This informs you that Daystar University Senate sitting on 11 April, 2018 closes the university by noon… This closure is indefinite,” read the statement.

“International students residing in Athi River campus are instructed to vacate and report to a designated desk in Nairobi by 2pm.”

The school has been hit by days of unrest as students protested alleged misappropriation of funds by the university management.

The climax was on Wednesday night as the students body met with the Senate to discuss the contentious issues when police stormed in and hurled teargas canisters.

Students have been demanding among other things, the resignation of the Vice Chancellor Timothy Wachira.
