Daring KCSE candidates steal mobile phones from invigilator

Two Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates will serve a one-year probation after a Thika court found them guilty of stealing mobile phones from an invigilator and a police officer during exams.

The two students from Heights Academy in Thika, are reported to have stolen an Infinix Note 5 valued at Ksh.18,000 from Eunice Wanjiku, a KCSE invigilator and a Techno N65 valued at Ksh.10,000 from Hassan Gabow, a police officer respectively.

The court heard that the two committed the alleged crime on November 6, while sitting their exam papers.

They later returned the stolen items which were also produced in court as evidence.

The suspects, who appeared before resident magistrate Kyanya Nyamori were positively identified by their colleagues before they were arrested from their hideouts by police and arraigned in court.

While pleading guilty to the charges, the two begged for forgiveness.

In the same school, an invigilator was also charged for tampering with examination papers before the start of the Chemistry paper.
