Dancehall veteran Redsan rubbishes claims he used to intimidate radio presenters

Addressing the viral chatter on his Instagram story, the 'Shoulder Back' hitmaker dismissed claims that journalists were fleeing station premises to avoid confrontation, attributing the initial misconception to a lighthearted skit made by media personality Sheila Kwamboka, aka Kwambox.

"Sasa huyu ni nani?? Are you sure you know what you are reporting? Can someone please tell these wannabe play journalists to be serious with life," Redsan wrote. 

The artist clarified that allegations suggesting presenters feared being physically assaulted for 'trash-talking' him were completely baseless, accusing critics of trying to derail the momentum surrounding his 30-year anniversary milestone concert (Redsan@30).

"Someone is trying very hard to stop Redsan@30 from trending... now they came up with fake news about me visiting radio presenters and God knows doing what there..." he said. 

The singer went on to clarify that Kwambox merely made a funny skit surrounding an earlier altercation he had had, denying that he used to cause violent commotions in radio studios.

"Clearly, it seems that they did not understand why Kwambox even made that funny clip to begin with. Stop spreading fake news trying to kill the vibe!" 

The rumors gained traction on X partly due to Redsan’s past history with violent confrontations in the music industry. 

In September 2018, the singer made headlines after an audio/video recording leaked online showing him in a heated altercation that turned physical with his long-time producer, Sappy (also known as Avid Kallatz), at a Nairobi recording studio. 

The dispute, which stemmed from unreleased album tracks and unpaid production fees following his 'Baddest' album launch, resulted in public outcry before both parties eventually reconciled.

In the audio, Redsan could be heard engaging in a heated argument with a man believed to be his producer, before slaps could be heard as both parties exchanged violent insults, which eventually led to a full-out fight at the studio's compound. 

However, Redsan has maintained that his relationship with media figures today remains strictly professional and that any comedic skits shared online should not be twisted into sensationalized reporting.

Redsan @ 30 took place on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the iconic Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi, Kenya. The milestone event was a massive solo anniversary concert celebrating the 30-year music career and legacy of the legendary Kenyan dancehall luminary. 

The evening featured a stacked, multi-generational lineup of regional and international heavyweights who performed alongside the headliner, including Necessary Noize (Wyre and Nazizi), Jua Cali, Daddy Owen, Uganda’s Bebe Cool and Jose Chameleone, Tanzania’s A.Y., Jamaica’s T.O.K., Nyla of Brick & Lace, and new-school acts like Zzero Sufuri and Dyana Cods.
