Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has condemned the killing of two young men during recent protests in Ishiara, Embu County, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable.
Speaking in Embu,
the CS assured that the government will ensure justice for the affected
families.
He said the
President has been fully briefed on the matter and noted that the government
has undertaken a raft of measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
Ruku added that an
overhaul of the Ishiara police station has already been carried out, with
investigations currently underway to ensure those responsible are held
accountable and justice is served.
He also conveyed
his sincere condolences to the bereaved families, both on his own behalf and
that of the government, affirming that authorities will stand with them during
this difficult time.
He termed the
deaths as deeply unfortunate, noting that no parent should have to lose a child
under such circumstances, and reiterated the government’s commitment to
accountability and the protection of citizens’ rights.
