The High Court has temporarily suspended a decision by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that required Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia to pay a KSh1.5 million fine.

In interim orders issued by the court, the judge stayed the implementation of the IEBC's judgment delivered on July 10, 2026, pending the hearing and determination of Muhia's application challenging the decision.

"That in the meantime, pending the hearing and determination of the application, an order is hereby issued staying the judgment/determination of the 2nd Respondent issued on 10 July 2026," reads the order

The orders mean the IEBC decision requiring the legislator to pay the KSh1.5 million fine will not be enforced until the court hears and determines her application.

Muhia moved to the High Court seeking to halt the enforcement of the electoral body's decision, arguing that the judgment should not take effect before the court considers her challenge.
