The Court of Appeal has temporarily suspended High Court orders directing President Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint the six judges he left out from a list recommended by JSC within 14 days.

The court suspended the order until November 19 when the court is expected to decide whether the order given to President Kenyatta will be revoked.

Justices Roselyn Nambuye, Imaana Laibuta and Wanjiru Karanja issued the verdict after submissions from Attorney General Kihara Kariuki, the president's defense and Katiba Institute.

In his submission, President Kenyatta's lawyer Waweru Gatonye said the court order is likely to create ripples and strain relations between State House and the Chief Justice's office.

The six judges left out in the appointments are Aggrey Muchelule, George Odunga, Weldon Korir and Joel Ngugi. Chief magistrate Evans Makori and High Court registrar Judith Omange were also left out.
