Confusion has gripped the family of a 14-year-old girl who topped the KCPE exanimations at Nyalgunga primary school in Alego/Usonga sub-county last year after being placed in Form One at Lenana, a boys' school.

Gloria Adhiambo Owino and her family members were overjoyed when she attained 389 points and qualified to attend a national school.

Their joy was short-lived, however, when she went to download her calling letter only to discover that she had been assigned to a boys' school.

Gloria, who spoke to Radio Ramogi at her parents' residential house in Nyalgunga trading centre, says she had received placement to Lenana School, which is a boys' school.

The student who is now stranded claims that she tried in vain to wait for another calling letter because she had selected several schools in the National Schools category, including Alliance, Starehe Girls, and Kisumu Girls.

Aside from the confusion caused by the mistake in her Form One placement, Gloria faces the possibility of failing to continue her secondary education due to her humble background.

She claims that, while she would like to attend Kisumu Girls, her parents are unable to pay her school fees, which is why she is pleading with the government, local leaders, and well-wishers to come to her aid so that she can pursue her career goal of becoming a medical doctor.

Gloria's mother, Margaret Awuor Halowe, claims that they tried in vain to apply for scholarships at banking institutions.

She has appealed to well-wishers to help her obtain the proper placement for her daughter, as well as help in offsetting her school fees.
