The latest incident occurred on Monday afternoon when the body of a middle-aged man was discovered near the construction site of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
Residents said the man had not been immediately identified, with some suspecting that his body may have been dumped at the scene, while others suggested that he could have died after consuming illicit alcohol.
Other witnesses claimed the man had been seen asking for water and crying for help before collapsing and dying a few minutes later.
Witnesses at the construction site said the man had arrived unnoticed. His body was later discovered by women selling bananas at nearby kiosks after he remained motionless for an extended period.
Detectives from Kirinyaga Central Sub-County visited the scene, documented the incident and moved the body to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital mortuary as investigations into the death continued.
The latest incident comes days after Wycliffe Macharia was buried on October 18, 2026, following the discovery of his body in a trench near Kerugoya Stadium along the Kerugoya-Kibingo road.
His death had sparked calls for investigations, with Kerugoya MCA Eric Muchina expressing frustration over the lack of updates on the probe during the burial.
“He was someone's son. The people are full of anger that, up to now, we have not been updated on the progress of investigations into his death,” Muchina said.
“The youths of Kerugoya demand justice. They want to know what happened to their friend. A human life is not that of an animal. They want to know who is behind this heinous act and call for accountability,” he added.
The latest discovery has heightened anxiety among residents, who are calling on police to establish whether the deaths are connected.
“We want thorough investigations. This is the third man to die this way. Who is after men?” said residents Susan Wambui and Mary Nyawira.
Motorists and boda boda operators stopped at the scene to view the body as news of the discovery spread through the town.
“I thought he was the mentally ill man who is always in Kerugoya town, but he is not,” said Peter Karani.
Police investigations into the latest death are ongoing, and the circumstances surrounding the three deaths remain unclear.
