A company director has been charged with stealing KSh2.1 million belonging to a company in a case before a Makadara court.

Christine Njeri Wanjiru appeared before trial magistrate Juliana Ndengeri on Friday and was charged with stealing by a director, contrary to Section 282 of the Penal Code.

According to the charge sheet, Wanjiru allegedly committed the offence on diverse dates between June 15 and August 11, 2026, at an unknown location within Kenya.

The prosecution alleges that Wanjiru, being a director of the company, fraudulently stole Ksh.2.1 million, being the property of the company.

Wanjiru was arrested on August 27, 2026, and was presented before the court on Friday, August 28.

During the bail hearing, the prosecution asked the court to consider the amount of money allegedly stolen when determining the terms of her release.

The State argued that the alleged amount was substantial and urged the court to take into account the circumstances of the case before granting bail.

Wanjiru denied the charge and was released on a Ksh.1 million bond or a cash bail of Ksh.1 million.

The case will be mentioned on December 2, 2026.
