Kenya's athletic team has recorded massive success in the heats winning, gold and silver in the first and second sweep in men's and women’s 1500M races.

Nancy Cherop and Janet Chepkoech stepped on the gas in the last lap of the race to finish first and second respectively, earning Kenya her first pair of medals in the games.

In the men’s race, Josephat Sang broke the Commonwealth Youth Games record to win a second gold for Kenya. Sang clocked 3:37:66 hours to shatter the record previously held by fellow Kenya international Kumari Taki.

Sang was followed closely by Andrew Kiptoo who also recorded his personal best in the race, winning silver after clocking 3:38:12 hours.

Kiptoo and Sang are set to run 800M heats and the 4 by 4 mixed relay.

In the other races, Titus Maundu bagged silver in the T63 class of the Para discus in a closely contested affair. Titus, recently introduced into the sport, threw a distance of 20M in the race. Nicholas Kalonzo, however, came 4th in the race throwing 23.33M.

In Tobago, the Cub Lionesses got into day four fighting for a bronze medal position against Fiji, but they fell short of their aspiration after going down 22-10.

The Lionesses had also played against Canada who beat them 17-0 to mark the end of their campaign at the games.

In the beach volleyball games, the dynamic duo of Abigail Chebet and Sharon Chepkogei are yet to lose a single set in their campaign as they book a ticket into the semis after beating England. They face Canada today in their semis.

In other games, the triathlon finished their campaign in a Super Sprint where Abdul Bagha and Iman Kaiza clocked 52:45.
