Legendary Coast musician Ally B, known for hits such as ‘Maria’ and ‘Bembea’, is dead.

The mellow-voiced crooner was declared dead at the Makadara hospital in Mombasa where he was rushed after complaining of feeling unwell.

Before his sudden demise, Ally B had spent his day at Kilifi running his daily errands.

According to sources close to the singer, Ally B died as a result of high blood pressure.

Shortly after the news broke, fans, music contemporaries and friends took to social media to mourn his demise and send their condolences.

Famed Benga star Suzanna Owiyo expressed her shock and sadness, writing, "Oh Nooooo..This is the saddest news I have heard today. Ally B is no more... Rest in Power..."

Coast-based singing duo CSM Wazito also mourned the departed artiste, “We're in deep grief to announce the death of our big brother Ally B Khamisi. May his soul Rest In Eternal Peace. Rest in Peace Bro."

Ally B, real name Ali Khamisi Mwaliguli, had tried his hand at politics and vied for a Member of the County Assembly seat in Junda Ward in Kisauni, Mombasa County under a Jubilee Party ticket in 2017.

However, he lost out to Musumba Raphael Bwire of the ODM party.
