An Eldoret court has charged a church leader with defilement contrary to section 8 (1) of the sexual offence Act No 3 of 2006.

Appearing before Eldoret Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Ireri, Ronald Kiprop Ewambok, a lay leader in Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), Uasin Gishu county, denied the defilement charges.

Ewambok is accused of sodomizing his biological son on diverse date in the month of December 2019 and 2023, at Kamulat village in Turbo sub county.

The accused is said to have intentionally subjected his son aged 14 years to sexual act for over four years.

The state counsel has lined up six key witnesses among them the victim who are set to testify against the accused person during the trial.

The court directed that the lay leader be admitted on a Ksh. 200,000 bond with one surety of similar amount.

The case will come up for mention on September 15, 2025.
