Four people died following a road accident in Nkubu Town, Meru County Sunday, December 25 morning.

Area Police boss, John Cheruiyot, said the unidentified persons died in the 3:00am accident when a private car hit a motorcycle.

Three of the victims died on the spot while the fourth one died receiving treatment at Nkubu Consalata Hospital.

On Christmas Eve, a pastor drowned after his car plunged into a dam at Coffee Estate on Gatanga Road in Murang’a County.

Witnesses said the preacher, Edwin Livuta, was travelling alone in the car after he had just dropped off his children at the farm.

A Toyota Prado also crashed into a lorry along the Sagana-Makutano road in Kirinyaga County killing the driver and the passenger on the spot Saturday night.

This comes barely a fortnight after the country lost 43 souls after a mini-truck exploded near Karai area in Naivasha along the busy Nairobi – Nakuru highway.

The flames from the burning lorry quickly spread to the vehicles which were burnt beyond recognition.

The National Transport and Safety Authority says it has noted a reduction in accidents this year compared to the same time last year.
