Han Zheng, the vice president of the People's Republic of China (PRC), will visit Kenya between March 22 and March 30, 2026.

According to China's Foreign Ministry, Zheng will also visit Seychelles and South Africa within the same period as part of his African tour.

His visitation to Kenya is on the invitation of deputy president Kithure Kindiki.

South Africa's deputy president Paul Mashatile and Seychelles vice president Sebastien Pillay also invited VP Zheng to visit their countries.

The visitation is part of China's effort to cement ties with multiple African nations.

During the 39th African Union Summit held in February 2026, Chinese President Xi Jinping made known the republic's intention to work with African countries amid the rising international status of the AU.

Then, Xi said that China will fully implement zero-tariff treatment to 53 African countries having diplomatic relations with China starting from May 1, 2026.

At the same time, the Chinese leader said China will continue to push forward the negotiation and signing of the agreements on economic partnership for shared development, and further expand access for African exports to China by upgrading the "green channel" and other measures.

This, he added, would provide new opportunities for Africa's development, and for China and Africa's joint pursuit of the dream of modernization.
