China-Kenya trade expo draws over 100 firms

More than 100 Kenyan and Chinese enterprises will converge in Nairobi this week for the 3rd China (Linyi)-Kenya International Commodity Exhibition, a trade fair aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, investment and technology partnerships between the two countries.

The exhibition, which runs from July 2 to 4 at the Sarit Expo Centre, will bring together over 90 manufacturers and exporters from Linyi City in China's Shandong Province alongside 10 Kenyan enterprises.

It will showcase products ranging from industrial machinery and construction materials to agricultural equipment, consumer goods and renewable energy technologies.

Kenya China Chamber of Commerce (Shandong) President Zhang Dong said the event underscores the growing economic partnership between Kenya and China.

"This exhibition is more than a display of products—it is a bridge connecting businesses, industries and people. Kenya continues to be one of East Africa's most important commercial gateways, while China remains committed to strengthening practical trade cooperation, investment and technology exchange that supports Kenya's economic transformation," Zhang said.

He added that the exhibition's business matchmaking sessions are expected to result in new distributorship agreements, investment partnerships and long-term commercial collaborations between companies from both countries.

Agriculture is among the key sectors featured, with exhibitors displaying modern farm machinery, irrigation systems and agro-processing technologies.

Kenya National Farmers' Federation (KENAFF) Member Services and Project Officer Enock Mutai said the exhibition offers farmers and agribusinesses an opportunity to access technologies that can improve productivity and reduce post-harvest losses.

"Mechanization is essential if Kenya is to transform its agricultural sector. This exhibition gives farmers, cooperatives and agribusinesses an opportunity to engage directly with manufacturers of modern farm equipment and irrigation technologies that can increase farmers' incomes," Mutai said.

Organisers expect the exhibition to generate new investment commitments and technology partnerships while reinforcing Kenya's role as a regional gateway for trade with East and Central Africa.
