The tournament drew hundreds of enthusiastic locals who turned up to cheer on their teams, with ChezaCheza using the corporate social responsibility event to bring together boda boda riders and community football teams in a bid to foster peaceful coexistence, road safety awareness, and youth talent development.
The final itself lived up to the billing, with Obucuun Border FC and Amaase FC trading blows throughout an end-to-end contest before Obucuun edged out their rivals 3-2 to lift the trophy amid jubilant scenes from their fans.
As part of the initiative, the firm donated football jerseys, match balls and other sports equipment to participating teams and members of the community, a gesture that was warmly received by players and residents alike.
Speaking during the event, a ChezaCheza representative said the tournament forms part of the company's broader commitment to engaging communities while growing its fast-rising gaming platform, which continues to gain popularity through its rewarding products.
Beyond football, the CSR event also turned its attention to road safety, with ChezaCheza distributing reflector jackets to boda boda riders operating within Busia town. Boda boda transport remains a critical, yet high risk, mode of movement in the region, with riders frequently exposed to accidents, especially during low visibility hours.
The company added that it will continue supporting similar grassroots initiatives across the country, using sport as a platform to champion road safety and community cohesion while empowering local talent.
