Police identified the deceased as Mungai Gathogo, 53, a chef who was working in Parliament.
In an incident report recorded at Ongata Rongai Police Station under OB 90/29/4/2026, police said the matter was reported by a caretaker at Ruth’s Apartment along Honey Pot Road.
The report states that Gathogo arrived home from work at about 9.50pm on Tuesday in the company of his girlfriend, 31-year-old Catherine Muthoki.
Police said the two went into the house and shortly afterwards a fight broke out, prompting the woman to leave the premises before later returning with a friend, Everline Ngina, who found the victim lying unconscious.
Officers from Ongata Rongai Police Station and DCI visited the scene and found the man lying on the bedroom floor in a pool of blood with a kitchen knife lodged in his left arm near the chest, police said.
He was rushed to Ongata Rongai Sub-County Hospital and later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said. His body was preserved at the hospital mortuary pending a postmortem.
Police said a suspect, identified as Catherine Muthoki, was arrested and placed in custody pending murder charges, and the knife recovered as an exhibit.
The case is under investigation by DCI officers in Ongata Rongai.
