Chavakali Boys Secondary School in Vihiga County has been closed indefinitely after students went on a rampage and destroyed property on Tuesday night.
Unrest in the school began on Sunday night when one of the school’s dormitories went up in flames.
On Tuesday at around 10 PM, the students are said to have further vandalized the administration block and two of the school's vehicles by breaking their windows.
According to the school principal John Kuira, a total of 2,147 students were sent home on Wednesday.
Details about the school's reopening will be communicated later after discussions by the school management.
The principal declined to comment on the incident.
