Candidates drown as swimming expedition turns sour

Two boys who were set to join standard eight at the beginning of this term in Mithingiini in Kibwezi, Makueni County drowned as they were swimming in Kiluku Dam.

According to area chief Jackson Kiima, the two boys had been sent to the posho-mill when they decided to swim in the dam when they drowned.

The police in conjunction with residents managed to retrieve the bodies from the dam which were later transferred to Makindu Hospital mortuary.

Elsewhere, a girl who sat her Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations (KCPE) last year, committed suicide for unknown reasons in Kibwezi, Makueni County.

Her lifeless body was found dangling from a tree near her parents’ home.

Police have since launched investigations.
