Environment Cabinet Secretary nominee Aden Duale declared his net worth to be Ksh.980 million on Friday when he appeared before the National Assembly's Committee on Appointments for vetting pending Parliamentary approval.

This is a Ksh.129 million increase from the Ksh.851 million Duale declared in September 2022 when he was vetted for the Defence minister position.

Duale told the committee that his assets comprise parcels of land, a cattle ranch and rental properties, among others.

"l have pieces of land in Garissa and Nairobi and houses in the two counties. I own a cattle ranch in Garissa and rental properties in Garissa and Nairobi. I also own shares in my family owned businesses and have camels, cattle and motor vehicles," he said.

"Lastly I got good revenue from the sale of my autobiography, which is the number one best-selling book as of today."

He further attributed the growth to the appreciation of his investments and rental properties.

"There is both investment and real estate property whose appreciation increases between 12-15 per cent. If you calculate my current net worth by 12-15 per cent that amount will come to Ksh.851 million," he said.

"My livestock have also grown in number because of the recent rains."
