A middle-aged man suspected of theft was lynched by residents in Amoni village, Ang'orom Ward, Teso South Constituency, Busia County.

According to Augustine Samunyu, a local elder, the victim, identified only as Leonard, was attacked with a spear inside his home after he failed to produce the alleged stolen items.

Samunyu condemned the act, urging the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

He also suggested that Leonard may have been wrongfully killed, noting that the suspect was found intoxicated before the attack.

The body has been taken to the mortuary at Busia Referral Hospital as police continue investigating the incident.
