Afrobeats giant Damini Ebunoluwa, popularly known as Burna Boy, will make history in July when he becomes the first Nigerian artiste to headline a concert in a U.S stadium.

In a post on Twitter on Monday, April 3, 2023, Billboard announced that the ‘Last Last’ hitmaker would be the first Nigerian musician to perform at the Citi Field in New York City.

"Burna Boy will be the first-ever Nigerian artist to headline a U.S. stadium when he performs at NYC's Citi Field this summer," wrote the American music and entertainment publication.

Burna Boy, on his part, took to Instagram to announce the concert saying; "Biggest show in North America to date! July 8th 2023...tickets live on Friday."

The multiple award-winning musician is on a world tour after his 2022 album ‘Love, Damini’, and is also expected to make stops at Paris La Defense, London Stadium, and the Gelre Dome in Amsterdam.

The ‘It’s Plenty’ star last year became the first Nigerian artiste to headline a concert at the Madison Square Garden for a performance that was titled ‘Burna Boy Presents One Night In Space.’

In a previous interview with Billboard, he said: “It has always been my vision to build a bridge between all Black people in all parts of the world through the music and performance.”

The Afrobeats heavyweight is one of the most popular African musicians in the world, having won many international accolades including a Grammy Award as well as a BET Award.
