Bungoma: Ken Lusaka, Moses Wetangula clinch Governor and Senator seats

Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka has been declared
the Governor-elect of Bungoma County while Senator Moses Wetangula has also
retained his seat.
Lusaka (FORD-Kenya), who was the first
Governor of Bungoma County emerged winner after garnering 241,695 against his main
opponent Wycliffe Wangamati (DAP-K) who bagged 137,378 votes.
On the other hand, incumbent Senator Moses
Wetangula (FORD-Kenya) retained his seat after clinching 286,146 votes.
In the Woman Rep race, Incumbent Catherine
Wambilianga (FORD-Kenya) also retained her seat after garnering 140,716 votes.
The Wetangula-led FORD-Kenya party, which
was under the Kenya Kwanza alliance has managed to clinch majority of seats in
Bungoma region.
FORD-Kenya flowed the newly-formed DAP-K Party, which was headed by its former officials Wafula Wamunyinyi and Eseli
Simiyu.
In a press conference on Thursday, Wetangula celebrated the party’s win saying;
“I told you
that those coup plotters won't push me from FORD-Kenya, I promised them that
they must be defeated in these elections which has happened, their coup died on
arrival.”
