Broad-based leaders rally behind Ruto's Vision 2060, dismiss opposition criticism

Just hours after President William Ruto unveiled Vision 2060, leaders allied to the broad-based government have thrown their weight behind President William Ruto's Vision 2060, describing it as a transformative blueprint that will accelerate Kenya's journey towards becoming a first-world economy.

The leaders fanned out across different parts of the country, including Suba North, Mbeere North, Nyamira and parts of Western Kenya, urging Kenyans to support the long-term development agenda.

They also called on political leaders to embrace constructive dialogue and focus on development instead of divisive politics.

"Rais jana alisema hataki kuweka mbele siasa anataka kuweka mbele mambo ya maendeleo na ndio maana alileta jana Vision 2060,” said Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula described the vision as a national development agenda that transcends political affiliations, saying it has the potential to propel Kenya towards first-world status through targeted investments.

"Hiyo Vision sii ya rais peke yake ni ya sisi sote....sisi lazima tuwe na ndoto ya kuishi vizuri kesho kuliko jana,” Wetangula said.

In Homa Bay County, ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga, accompanied by Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo, said the vision echoes the long-standing calls by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for an inclusive national dialogue involving political leaders, religious groups and the youth to shape the country's future.

"As an ODM party, we are waiting for the time to implement... remember it is Raila Odinga that brought Prof. Nyong'o and the other prof to bring us the future policy of our nation and this isn't politics,” said Wanga.

Homa Bay Senator, Moses Kajwang added, “We are fully behind this blueprint...we must take Kenya to the next level of development; we must be honest to our country....."

On his part, Interior PS Dr Raymond Omollo said, "And we are not going to be dragged behind by leaders who want our country to remain where it is; we must follow the vision......"

In Nyamira County, leaders allied to the broad-based administration urged residents in the Gusii region to support the government's development agenda, accusing the opposition of advancing ethnic politics instead of offering alternative policies.

"Wale wengine badala ya kuambia Wakenya watawafanyia nini wao kazi yao ni kupiganisha Wakenya na ukabila,” said Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot

President Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet added, "Nyinyi mtakubali wakabila wapotoshe nchi yetu?”

Energy and Petroleum CS Opiyo Wandayi said, “Our region must be united, and we have been united before behind President William Ruto..."

The leaders further urged Kenyans to support leaders based on their development agenda rather than political rhetoric ahead of the 2027 General Election.

"Wewe Gachagua ukiletwa tena bunge bado tutakuimpeach kwa sababu bado hujabadilika,” West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka stated.

Nominated MP Irene Mayaka added, “Hapa Kisii...tumesema Ruto ni two term kwa sababu ya maendeleo ametuletea...."
