A 15-year-old boy from Nyomba Yathi Village in Kanyakine Location, Imenti South sub-county who was in seclusion after undergoing traditional circumcision rites has been admitted to hospital in critical condition after he was beaten by men known to him for going against seclusion rules.

Speaking from his bed in Mitunguu Hospital, Ronny Kimathi said he was beaten by three men after he was found sleeping against the norm.

The beating has left him with a wound on his leg that has rendered him immobile, a situation made worse by the family’s inability to afford treatment at a public health facility as the doctors’ strike continues.

According to Livingstone Mbogori, a nursing officer at the health facility, the patient will need to undergo surgery in order to treat the wound on his leg.

Bedan Kinoti, who is the boy’s father, expressed fear that if no action is taken against the culprits the crime could be repeated in future.

He lamented that he only learned of the assault on his son after he was unable to move from the seclusion house after the end of the period.
