Boston Marathon champion Korir set to compete at Sirikwa Classic 2026

The 29-year-old, the reigning Boston Marathon champion and the eighth fastest marathoner in history, will be racing on home soil after confirming his entry on Thursday.
Korir last competed in Valencia on December 7 last year, where he stormed to victory in 2:02:24, and the Sirikwa Classic will mark his first cross-country race.
Meanwhile, Kenya’s former World U20 cross-country champion Ishmael Rokitto finished second at the Belgrade Indoor Meeting on Wednesday night.
Rokitto clocked 7:51.05 to settle for second place behind South Africa’s Tshepo Tshite, who won the race in a meeting record 7:50.87.
Elsewhere, organisers of the EDPLisbon Half Marathon have confirmed the return of Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo forthe 2026 edition.
Kiplimo holds the course record of 57:31, a time that stoodas the world record from November 2021 to December 2024, and he will headline the elite field.
The Ugandan star has already underlined his form in 2026 after convincingly reclaiming the World CrossCountry title, setting the stage for another big showdown in Lisbon.
