A 33-year-old man in Olmotonyi area of Bomet central-sub county, Bomet County, is suspected of killing his younger brother and dumping his body in a pit latrine.

According to Acting Bomet central sub-county Police Commander Francis Nganga, Victor Kiplang’at Cheruiyot ambushed his brother at the compound and hit him severally on the head with a hammer.

The police boss further said the suspect also used a panga to mutilate the body of his brother before lowering it to a pit latrine.

Locals who heard the commotion raised alarm attracting members of the public who rushed to the scene and gave a thorough beating to the suspect before he was reportedly forced to reveal where he hid the body.

Officers attached to the Silibwet Police Station rushed to the scene and rescued the suspect from being burnt by the angry members of the public.

The mutilated body was retrieved and the murder weapons, a hammer and a panga, found in the same pit.

The body was moved to the Long’isa county hospital mortuary while the suspect is also receiving treatment in the same facility.
