Blinded by power! Jubilee hits back at Ruto after attacking Uhuru

President Ruto, during a church service in Taita Taveta on Sunday, went for Uhuru's jugular, accusing him of sparking confusion after revealing that the 2022 elections were bungled against the late Raila Odinga.

"You cannot be a leader yet you go to a gathering while drunk. You also tell other leaders not to use drugs yet you are confused," Ruto remarked.

"Let us be responsible because when you go to speak about things when drunk, you bring confusion. Elections happened four years ago, but because of being confused you come say things that are not clear."

The party, in a statement on Monday, questioned his integrity as a Head of State for making incendiary comments in a place of worship.

Jubilee argued that political leaders claiming high moral ground should be put to the test on their competence for lacking presidential conduct.

"The spectacle of a sitting President using sacred altars to preach restraint while leading a government defined by institutional excess is as staggering as it is undeniable," the party stated.

"The very individuals attempting to claim the moral high ground from the sanctuary are themselves profoundly blinded, not by substance, but by absolute power, unbridled incompetence, and their own unending falsehoods."

The party instead urged President Ruto to focus on tackling the vices rocking his administration, including looting of public money and incompetence.

It also asked him to keep off "petty political score-settling" to evade public ridicule and focus on tending to his mandate.

"To stand before a congregation and lecture the nation on decorum, while presiding over a regime that has subjected millions to crippling economic hardship, punitive taxation, and broken promises, reveals a profound detachment from reality," Jubilee added.

"The Kenya Kwanza regime represents the lowest denominator of leadership. A regime built on unfulfilled commitments, institutional arrogance, and systemic failure possesses zero moral authority to lecture anyone on accountability, dignity, or governance."

Mr. Kenyatta, during a Jubilee Party NEC meeting on September 22, said that he believed the election was rigged in favour of President Ruto.

"Tulifanya kila kitu kumsaidia Baba awe Rais wa Jamhuri yetu ya Kenya. Na kura akapata, na mimi mpaka wa leo najua ya kwamba yeye ndiye alishinda hiyo kura. Tunajua vile mambo ilienda, na hatutaki iende hivyo tena," he said.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) said that Ruto received 7,176,141 (50.49 per cent) of the votes, narrowly beating his rival, Raila Odinga, who managed 6,942,930 votes (48.85 per cent).

Mr Odinga, at the time the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition flag bearer, moved to court to dispute the election results.

The renewed debate has now sparked political tiff among political rivals as parties gear up for the 2027 General Election

Meanwhile, President Ruto has maintained his belief that the opposition is being sponsored by Mr Kenyatta and is acting as his mouthpiece.
