Bishop Margaret Wanjiru says there are UDA candidates she can't vote for

Nairobi Senatorial aspirant Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has said that not everyone in her party (UDA) is worth her vote.

According to Wanjiru, the decision to vote for someone, regardless of their political affiliation, should be guided by integrity and a proven track record.

“Even in my party (UDA), there are people I cannot vote for. They all know my stand, if someone has a questionable character or has zero service delivery track record, I Margaret Wanjiru cannot be part of their team,” Wanjiru said in a Spice FM interview on Monday.

The Senatorial aspirant added that voters should not elect leaders who made promises to them but did not deliver when an opportunity was given to them.

In a contradictory remark, Wanjiru said that the Kenyan voters have started to adopt the ‘six-piece’ voting trend, where they elect people of their preferred political party.

“When people go out and campaign together, the crowd start looking at the whole team. There could be one or two that they don’t agree with, but for the sake of others we will do party politics,” she said.

The renowned preacher also argued that the 2022 election has seen a reduction of politically undecided voters, majority of whom were Christians.

“Most religious people would rather stay at home and pray. But this time it Is not the same, people are getting out of the prayer room to the polling station,” she said.

Wanjiru, who is eyeing the Nairobi Senatorial seat on a UDA ticket said that leaders who did not deliver 80-85% of their promises on their first terms should not be re-elected.
