Police have destroyed bhang worth over Ksh. 12 million shillings in Marsabit County.

The officers destroyed 670 kilograms of confiscated bhang following an order by the court in Marsabit.

At the same time, illicit brew worth an estimated Ksh.150,000 was destroyed in the ongoing war on drugs and alcohol abuse.

Marsabit County Commissioner James Kamau and area police commander Leonard Kimaiyo supervised the destruction of the highly addictive substance.

Also present at Segel area were officials from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and court officials.

The authorities said the move is aimed at ensuring that the outlawed substances do not find their way back into the market, as a way of supporting the fight against drug and substance abuse.

The authorities added that detectives across the country remain on high alert to ensure that the continued war against drugs yields the desired results.
