Bandari FC have shifted their focus to their first home match of the 2026/27 Kenya Premier League season against 3K FC, scheduled for Monday at Mbaraki Sports Ground in Mombasa.
The Dockers opened their campaign with a goalless draw
against AFC Leopards and are now targeting maximum points as they prepare to
face the league newcomers.
Speaking to journalists after Saturday morning training,
head coach Charles Okere said the result against AFC Leopards provided valuable
lessons, despite his side's failure to convert their scoring opportunities.
Okere expressed satisfaction with his team's performance but
admitted they needed to be more clinical in front of goal.
“I am happy with the point we picked against AFC Leopards.
We implemented our game plan, but I am disappointed that we failed to take our
chances. It was a good start, and now we are preparing for our first home match
against 3K FC,” said Okere.
The Bandari tactician acknowledged that 3K FC would pose a
challenge despite their recent entry into the top flight, adding that his team
had developed a strategy to secure all three points.
“3K FC are a good team, and we know they will fight from the
start. However, we have a plan to contain them and secure the three points,” he
added.
Okere also called on Bandari supporters to turn out in large
numbers at Mbaraki and provide the team with the backing needed to secure their
first victory of the season.
He described the fans as the team's “12th player” and said a
home win would be the perfect reward for their support.
Meanwhile, Bandari will be without first-choice goalkeeper
Alain Ngeleka, who is sidelined with a knee injury.
However, goalkeeper trainer Razak Siwa remains confident in
the available options, insisting the team has adequate cover in the goalkeeping
department.
“Despite Ngeleka's injury, we are comfortable because we
have two other good goalkeepers who are ready whenever called upon, as we saw
during the AFC Leopards match,” said Siwa.
Siwa added that Bandari, who recorded 15 clean sheets last
season, are determined to raise their defensive standards and produce the
league's best goalkeeper this campaign.
Last season's FKF Cup top scorer and Bandari striker Amza
Mubarak Ngamchiya Ndayou also expressed confidence ahead of Monday's encounter,
saying the squad was in good spirits and determined to challenge for the league
title.
“The mood in the team is good, and we are determined to win the match as we target the league title. This is our first home game in front of our fans, so we want to make sure we get the three points on Monday,” said Ndayou.
