Bandari FC remain in search of their first win of the
2026/27 Kenya Premier League season after being held to a frustrating 0-0 draw
by Posta Rangers at Mbaraki Sports Ground in Mombasa on Wednesday.
The Dockers dominated much of the encounter and created
several scoring opportunities but failed to find the breakthrough, despite the
visitors playing with 10 men for more than 40 minutes.
Bandari started brightly, with Darius Msagha winning three
consecutive corners in the second minute as the hosts piled early pressure on
Posta Rangers.
In the 20th minute, Abdalla Hassan missed a close-range
header after connecting with Thomas Wainaina’s cross. A minute later, Msagha
squandered another golden opportunity when he went one-on-one with Posta
Rangers goalkeeper John Njau but fired narrowly wide.
Posta Rangers remained disciplined defensively, absorbing
the pressure and keeping the hosts at bay in the first half.
The match took a decisive turn in the 49th minute when Posta
Rangers striker Robert Karisa was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Bandari
defender Kevin Odongo, leaving the visitors with 10 players for the remainder
of the contest.
Bandari coach Charles Okere responded with second-half
substitutions, introducing Lawrence Okoth, Keith Imbali and Beja Nyamawi in an
attempt to find a winning goal. However, the changes failed to produce the
desired breakthrough as the hosts struggled to convert their numerical
advantage into goals.
Posta Rangers nearly snatched a late winner in stoppage time
when substitute Rodgers Obusu unleashed a shot from about 18 yards, but his
effort went wide.
The draw extends Bandari’s winless start to four league
matches, piling pressure on the Mombasa-based side to improve their finishing.
Speaking after the match, Bandari head coach Charles Okere
expressed disappointment at his side’s failure to convert its chances.
“Another draw at home is not a good sign. However, our boys
are giving their best and creating chances; we are just not converting them. We
must be clinical,” Okere said.
Posta Rangers assistant coach Edwin Mwaura, meanwhile,
praised his players for their resilience in securing a point despite playing
with a numerical disadvantage.
“I'm happy with the point. Our players worked very hard for
it. This is the second match we have played with a man less following a red
card, but you could tell we wanted maximum points. Slowly, we are heading in
the right direction,” Mwaura said.
Bandari will now look to turn their chances into goals in their next outing at home against Mathare United on Sunday, while Posta Rangers will take encouragement from a disciplined defensive display and a hard-earned away point, when they face Tusker away on the same day.
