Bandari FC have signed Danson Chetambe from Zoo FC, ending transfer speculation involving the midfielder after an outstanding season with the Kericho outfit.

Bandari head coach Bernard Mwalala has described Chetambe as a ‘phenomenal’ player following a breakout campaign in which he scored 10 league goals.

His goals tally was only bettered by Mathare United’s Cliff Nyakeya for a midfielder and were vital in helping secure Zoo’s Kenyan Premier League (KPL) survival.

“We have reached an agreement with his club and I can confirm that he is our player. He had been outstanding over the past few seasons and we are happy he chose us because some other clubs were also in the race to land him,” Mwalala told Citizen Digital on Wednesday.

A host of KPL sides were interested in signing Chetambe with newly promoted Wazito FC among clubs with whom he was heavily linked.

Mwalala has meanwhile revealed that Sofapaka FC’s Cliff Kasuti is close to sign for his side as negotiations are ongoing.

Mwalala said Kasuti should have impressed had he not been overlooked for large parts of the campaign by head coach John Baraza since joining the former KPL champions from Ulinzi Stars.

“Kasuti has not been getting the chances in his club. We are hopeful that He is going to be our second player to join us. We are still talking to the player and his club,” Mwalala said.

Bandari are keen to strengthen their squad as they prepare for a return to the CAF Confederation Cup having won this year’s FKF Shield trophy.
