An eight-month-old baby was on Tuesday, January 3, found abandoned in a sugar plantation in Indoli village, Mumias.

According to a Mr Peter OsundwaMasheti, he heard a baby’s cry as he was passing by only to find the infant trying to crawl from the farm.

Assistant area chief, Wilbroda Makhoha, said that investigations had been launched to trace the mother of the child.

Makhoha went further to condemn such actions, warning parents to find amicable ways to resolve their differences rather than involving their children.

Child Welfare officer in charge of Mumias Region, Gilbert Masimba, said that the child was safe and in healthy condition and called upon anyone with information pertaining the parents to come forward and help with the case.
