Avlc Group, a boutique finance entity, has appointed Sheila Kimani as its Head of Business and Operations in a move aimed at achieving its expansion plans and overcoming industry challenges.

The company aims to establish its authority in the East African market and Kimani's appointment is deemed timely and consistent with this goal.

Kimani holds a first-class Bachelor's degree in Economics from Egerton University. She served as a consultant in one of the subsidiary consulting projects, Tembea Tujenge Kenya, which revolutionized the domestic tourism sector in Kenya.

Andrew Kanyutu, the firm's CEO, expressed confidence in Kimani's ability to deliver in her new role, stating that the company needed someone who could understand its vision and come up with customized operational models.

Benson Macharia, a finance consultant, commented that more internal alignments are expected at the firm, along with external talent recruitment to ensure the long-term sustainability of the business model.

"Due to the expansion plans in the next 5 years, the group needed an insider who appreciates the journey and vision of the founders to allow setting sustainable systems and structures both for business and operations," Benson Macharia, a finance consultant commented.

The boutique finance entity has weathered past business challenges in its Kenya operations as well as SADC, primarily Zimbabwe and Malawi, and has established itself as a reliable financial partner to SMEs and corporates.

With its regional penetration in Rwanda and Uganda markets, it has managed to reignite its vision and stabilize its balance sheet, which had previously been eroded by legacy debts with minimal growth.

The firm's finance model has been appreciated by industry players who have outlined its creativity and decision-making prowess. Its recent successful project, a housing project structure in Kigali estimated at USD 50 million, has enabled it to attract more business.

Avlc Group has elevated Carol Wangui, who was previously handling administration, to finance and forex consultancy, which is a new line being explored by the group at a global level.

The company has operated in the SADC region in remittance in partnership with Telcos and other regulated entities and is looking to create a proper model through strategic partnerships with regulated players.
