Africa Nazarene University Wolfpacks head coach Michael Oluoch has praised his players’ effort despite a winless weekend in the National Men’s Basketball Premier League.

The students endured a tough run, falling 47-64 to Strathmore Blades on Friday before pushing defending champions Nairobi City Thunder in a narrow 79-83 loss on Saturday.

They wrapped up the weekend with a 67-77 defeat to Ulinzi Warriors on Sunday.

Reflecting on the matches, the coach remained upbeat, highlighting the difficult circumstances surrounding the team’s preparation.

“It was a crazy game for us. They gave it their all. The players had just come from exams and had not trained, but I’m really proud of them,” he said.

He added that despite the results, the players executed well on the court and showed great determination.

“They played and gave their best. They were doing everything right on the court. It was just bad luck that we were not able to convert and win at least one game, but they gave it their best. It was a crazy game.”

The soft-spoken coach had also admitted the team now faces a fresh challenge as they return to training amid an injury crisis.

“I’m going back to training because we’ve been out for practically a month. We prepare for the next games, although we have a lot of injuries, seven in total. It’s a crazy number of injuries for a clean roster, but we pray that all will be well,” he said.

The results leave the Wolfpacks in tenth position with two wins and four losses after six matches, as they look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
