Africa Nazarene University (ANU) head coach Michael Oluoch expressed confidence in his team’s progress after the Wolfpacks secured their second consecutive win in the Men’s Basketball Premier League over the weekend.

The students defeated Moischers 64-50 at the Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium, maintaining a perfect start to the season.

“The boys played well and fought hard, and I’m really proud of the way they are performing. It’s motivating to see how well they are responding to instructions and how smoothly our system is flowing. I believe it’s going to be a good season for us,” said Oluoch.

ANU opened their campaign with a narrow 69-64 victory over Equity Dumas, and Sunday’s result further underlined their strong early-season form. With two wins from two matches, the Wolfpacks are building momentum as they aim to establish themselves among the early contenders.

Elsewhere, Strathmore Blades head coach Tony Ochieng praised his team after they also recorded back-to-back victories in the men’s league.

The Blades edged out Stanbic Shields 66-59 before dispatching Moischers 68-53 to cap an impressive weekend.

“The team was well prepared, and we got off to a very good start. Overall, the players posted impressive individual statistics and remained focused and solid on both ends of the floor. Our game plan worked well, although we still need to improve on breaking the press more effectively,” said Ochieng.

He added that despite the positive results, there is still room for improvement.

“We are taking it one game at a time. We need to improve our scoring efficiency, but overall the team is shaping up well. The new recruits are settling in nicely and performing strongly, and I hope we can maintain this level going forward.”

The strong start by both university sides highlight their intent as the race for top honours begins to take shape.
