Anker expands into Kenya as demand for connected devices grows

The company unveiled its portfolio of charging, power and audio products during a summit in Nairobi that brought together hundreds of technology enthusiasts, dealers, influencers and industry stakeholders.

Global consumer technology company Anker Innovations has officially expanded its operations into Kenya, targeting the country's growing market for charging solutions, portable power and personal audio technology.

The company unveiled its portfolio of charging, power and audio products during a summit in Nairobi that brought together hundreds of technology enthusiasts, dealers, influencers and industry stakeholders.

Anker Country Manager Kenya Able Liu said the company's entry into the market is aimed at meeting the growing need for reliable power and accessories as more Kenyans embrace smartphones and other connected devices.

“We aim to address this growing ecosystem with technology designed not simply to supply power, but to manage it intelligently,” Liu said.

The launch comes as Kenya's digital economy continues to expand, with consumers increasingly relying on smartphones and connected devices for mobile money, digital banking, e-commerce, education, entertainment and business.

Data from the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) shows that active mobile subscriptions reached 84.1 million in the third quarter of the 2025/26 financial year, while mobile broadband consumption rose by six per cent quarter-on-quarter to 800 million gigabytes.

Smartphones accounted for 63.7 per cent of all mobile phones connected to Kenyan networks, while users on 5G networks consumed an average of 53.5GB of data per subscription.

The figures point to a growing ecosystem of connected devices that require dependable charging and longer-lasting power solutions.

At the centre of Anker's charging portfolio is its GaNPrime technology, which uses gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors to produce smaller and more efficient chargers capable of handling higher power output.

“Compared with conventional silicon-based chargers, GaN allows manufacturers to develop compact chargers capable of handling higher power while reducing heat and energy losses,” Liu said.

Anker's entry into the market comes as consumers increasingly carry several connected devices, increasing demand for charging solutions that can power multiple gadgets without requiring a collection of individual chargers.
