Bandari FC striker Beja Nyamawi has set his sights on finishing the 2026/2027 season as the Kenyan Premier League’s top scorer while earning a place in the Harambee Stars squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Nyamawi, who scored 14 goals to finish fourth in the league’s top scorers’ chart during the 2024/2025 season, says his main ambition is to translate his club performances into a national team call-up.

“My aim is to feature in the AFCON games. I was in the Harambee Stars CHAN training camp but did not make the final squad. My focus now is on AFCON,” said Nyamawi.

“My target is to finish the season as the top scorer and secure a place in the national team for AFCON,” added the soft-spoken striker.

The striker is also eager to make up for lost time after an injury-hit 2025/2026 campaign, in which he managed just one league appearance. He says he has recovered and is looking forward to a more productive season.

“I am happy to be back after missing almost the entire last season. I urge my fans to pray that I have an injury-free season so I can get the job done,” he added.

Nyamawi has already missed Bandari’s opening two matches of the new campaign after falling ill, but is expected to return to the squad for Saturday’s clash against Gor Mahia at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Bandari have also strengthened their attacking options with the return of Derrick Nsibambi and the signing of Lawrence Okoth, additions Nyamawi believes will improve the team’s goal-scoring ability.

“We are working very well, and I know that together we will achieve our goals, both as a team and individually,” he said.

Nyamawi has one senior international appearance for Harambee Stars, making his debut on June 10, 2025, when Kenya faced Chad in an international friendly in Morocco. He came on as a substitute and played 44 minutes.
