Ambani hails ‘superb’ Leopards after sweet win over SEAL

AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani has expressed his satisfaction after his side secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Murang’a SEAL in an FKF Premier League clash at Nyayo National Stadium.

The result significantly boosts Leopards’ title charge, reducing the gap between them and league leaders Gor Mahia to just two points after 27 rounds in the 18-team competition.

With the season entering its final stretch, Ingwe are firmly back in contention for their first league crown since 1998.

After a tightly contested first half, Leopards found their breakthrough in the second period.

Goals from Ronald Sichenje and Hassan Beja secured all three points in what Ambani described as a challenging encounter against a well-drilled opponent.

“It’s a great result because Murang’a SEAL is a very good and composed team. You saw how they played,” said Ambani after the match. “Both sides played quality football, and I must give credit to them. For us, we want to keep this level and continue pushing.”

Ambani also underlined the importance of defensive discipline as Leopards aim to maintain consistency in the remaining fixtures.

“I always remind my players that keeping a clean sheet is the foundation of winning matches. Once you are solid at the back, it becomes easier to build attacks and score,” he noted. “Conceding goals makes things difficult, so our focus is to stay compact and organized.”

Leopards will next host defending champions Kenya Police FC at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, April 12, before traveling to Ulinzi Sports Complex to face Ulinzi Stars in another crucial fixture.
