Juja MP candidate Aloise Kinyanjui has moved to court to challenge the August parliamentary elections where George Koimburi Ndung'u was declared the winner.

According to the court documents, Kinyanjui made his applications at the Kiambu High Court which has now summoned the MP-elect to appear within 15 days.

“Service of summons to enter appearance upon you (George Ndung'u) has been ordered by means of this advertisement. Copies of the summons, petition, supporting affidavit, list of witnesses, list of documents, witness affidavits and annexures may be obtained from the civil registry of the High Court Kiambu,” read the statement.

“Take further notice, that unless you enter appearance within (15) days from the date of this advertisement the court shall make further orders as it deems fit and just.”

In the petition, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and Juja Returning Officer are also listed as respondents in the case.

In the tight Juja race, UDA’s George Koimburi managed to retain his seat by garnering 39,413 votes ahead of Kinyanjui’s 30,799 votes.

Kinyanjui who was running on a Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party ticket later disputed the results on grounds of illegalities and irregularities.
