Residents of Kiabunda village in Kinangop, Nyandarua County on Tuesday rescued two girls aged 11 and 14 who were allegedly being traded for sex by their mothers.

The two women are reported to have been forcing their daughters to sleep with a man who would in return give each of them Ksh.1,000 as payment.

Following a tip off from one of the locals, the area residents stormed one of the woman’s houses where they nabbed the man who had been defiling the girls, one of whom lives with disability.

Confirming the incident, area police boss Jane Munywoki said the man was detained at Njabini Police Station pending conclusion of investigations.

She, however, noted that the women were yet to be arrested since no one had recorded a statement against them.
