Fortinet Senior Vice President for EMEA South Filippo Monticelli says the emergence of autonomous AI systems is changing the cybersecurity landscape, with attackers able to operate faster and with less human supervision.
Monticelli says organisations must now strengthen their defensive capabilities and use AI to detect, analyse and respond to cyber threats in real time.
He warns that the risk extends beyond the theft of data, with energy companies, telecommunications firms, financial institutions and other critical infrastructure potentially facing attacks that could disrupt physical operations.
According to Monticelli, organisations should prepare for cyber incidents as an eventuality, with the ability to detect and contain breaches quickly becoming critical as attackers adopt more sophisticated technologies.
