Presidential
aspirant and activist Boniface Mwangi on Saturday called on the Gen Z voters to
come out in large numbers to vote for him in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
Speaking during
the inaugural and first edition of the ‘Into The Ballot’ initiative, that aims
to sensitize voters on making informed choices about their leaders, Mwangi encouraged
the young people to make use of the voter’s card that has recently been
popularized under the ‘Tuko Kadi’ initiative that just concluded.
Mwangi asked President
William Ruto to ignore remarks by his Tanzanian counterpart Samia Suluhu
calling for whipping of Gen Zs and activists, stating that they have a right to
demonstrate.
“Nataka tupate
kura za wale 8 million wenye hawa kupiga kura last time, hao plus these Gen Z
watanipea kiti. Ningependa kumuhimiza rais Ruto asiskize maneno ya Samia
Suluhu, wana Gen-Z wakona haki ya kuandamana,” said Mwangi.
Neema Kariuki, founder
of ‘Into The Ballot’ initiative, stated: “We are encouraging all Gen Zs and
everyone in the country to make informed choices about their leaders.”
