Seven family members have died in a road accident in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

Police said a Land Cruiser rammed head-on into a trailer near Mirera estate along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu Road on Sunday night, killing four children and three adults.

The deceased include a father and his three sons, and the group was among mourners travelling from a memorial service in Longonot for kin who died last week.

Three male adults said to be brothers died on the spot, while the minors were pronounced dead on arrival at Naivasha sub-county hospital.

According to Alice Wangui, a sister to the deceased men, three of the dead minors belonged to the same family, while the fourth minor was a son to a worker in the affected family.

Naivasha OCPD Antony Keter told Citizen Digital that initial investigations indicated that the driver of the Land Cruiser was overtaking.

The two occupants of the trailer were not injured.

Bodies of the deceased were taken to a local mortuary while the vehicles were towed to Naivasha police station.
