A 40-year-old man had committed suicide, with reports saying he had earlier in the day been confronted about his mother’s missing utensils.

Harrison Okonda from Emukusa village in Esiandumba, Vihiga County is said to have been enraged by his father’s move to recover ten cups and plates that he had stolen.

The deceased is said to have taken the utensils with the aim of selling them later.

Osodo Oluko, the father to the decedent said the family property has been disappearing under unclear circumstances.

He said he confronted his son about the missing cutlery after which a disgruntled Okonda hung himself with a cow tether inside his house.

“Okonda usually closes himself in the house whenever he returns home drunk, when I went to check after altercation as a result of trying to snatch the utensils he had taken wishing to sell I found him hanging on the rope in his house,” Osodo said.

The body of the decedent was moved to the Maseno Coptic Mission Hospital mortuary as a probe into what exactly transpired begins.
